Donor Rights and Responsibilities
As a donor to The Community Foundation you are entitled to:
- Receive information about the administrative fees and foundation spending policy
- Request anonymity
- Receive a prompt gift acknowledgment or "thank you"
- Be listed in foundation annual reports (with a gift of $50 or more) and other publications, unless you have requested anonymity
- Be added to the community foundation's mailing list
- Receive community foundation publications, including an annual report that contains full financial information, descriptions of its grant making program, and information concerning its' staff and board
- Be assured information about the size/nature of your gift will be held in confidence, and that it will be used for the purpose for which it was given
- Receive an invitation to our Annual Luncheon meeting if you contribute at least $50 to an endowment fund of the corporation
- Receive an invitation to our annual Donor Recognition Dinner if you contribute $200 (single), $400 (married), or $1,000 (business)
As a donor who has established a component fund, you have the right to:
- Select the name of the fund, or have it remain anonymous
- Have a copy of the formal fund agreement
- Receive fund status reports at least annually, or as requested (as time permits)
- Be furnished information concerning grants made from the fund
- Understand the variance power of the Foundation's Board
Donor Advised Funds donors have the right to:
- Recommend grants from the fund
- Determine if your children will advise distributions from the fund after your death
- Understand the geographic constraints concerning distributions from the fund. (At least 70% should be granted locally.)
- Be fully apprised, in writing, as to the limitations of the uses of a donor advised fund:
- There can be no benefit accruing to the donor as a result of a distribution
- The uses of the fund must be charitable
- Donor Advised Funds cannot be used to fulfill financial pledges
- The Board of Trustees must approve all distributions
