Scholarships

The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area awards over $340,000 in scholarships each year to more than 190 students to attend schools of higher education throughout the nation.  The scholarships are possible thanks to the generosity of many local individuals, families, and businesses who have created permanent endowments at The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area to further others’ education.

The Foundation administers various scholarships, each with unique criteria.  Each scholarship and the corresponding criteria are outlined in the links below.  Please review the criteria carefully.  Unless otherwise noted in the criteria, applicants must use the Foundation’s standard scholarship application.  Students must submit an application for each scholarship for which they are eligible.

Completed applications must be submitted to your high school guidance office.  Guidance officers will provide the application materials and an official transcript to the Foundation on April 1st, 2012.  Please check with your counseling office for their internal deadline.  Three scholarships have earlier deadlines. Applications for the J. Russel and Julia Bouws Scholarship, the Latin Americans United for Progress Dream Scholarship, and the University of Michigan Club of Holland Scholarship are due March 15th.

Students are eligible to apply for scholarships that are competitive among all area schools or competitive among students from a specific school.
