The Holland Zeeland Community Foundation
Who We Are
Established in 1951, the Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 community corporation created by and for the people of the greater Holland/Zeeland Area. Any person who contributes $50 or more in a given year is considered a member of the Foundation. The organization is governed by a volunteer board of trustees and supported by staff and community volunteers.
A Community Bridge
The Foundation is dedicated to connecting community needs, which change over time, with the resources and people who can best meet those needs. We serve as a vehicle through which all community members can help ensure that the area will always be a great place to live.
A Community Savings Account
The Foundation is a respected steward of over 300 separate community funds entrusted to us by a diverse group of individuals, businesses and organizations. We build permanent endowment funds that benefit our community forever and help people create their own personal and family legacies. We serve a broad range of donors and offer creative giving solutions that fit each person’s unique interests and financial circumstances.
A Community Grant Maker
The Community Foundation supports a wide range of charitable programs and initiatives in the areas of the arts, education, the environment, health, human services, youth, seniors, community development, economic development, affordable housing, and others that enhance the well-being of all citizens in our community. Our Board of local Trustees monitors the ever changing needs of the Holland/Zeeland area and responds in ways that take advantage of opportunities to make the greatest difference through the Foundation’s grant allocation process.
A Community Leader
We are an organization well networked in the community. We know local issues and leaders and pride ourselves as a convener—bringing together agencies and groups for fruitful discussions and positive action. We serve as a partner in philanthropy with our donors and their advisors, as well as with the many charitable organizations that serve our Holland/Zeeland community.
